Utility Apron Give-A-Way

Written by , Posted in craft apron, Give-A-Way

I realized two things the other day. One, I have not posted a give-a-away in a very long time and two, I have never given away a utility apron as a prize!
So here we are with both 🙂

This apron hosts two (6.5 in. x 7.5 in.) pockets , one pen pocket & two phone pockets measuring 5×7 in. Key hook is a swivel clasp so you can easily attach your keys.

So how to win this apron?
Simply leave a comment below letting me know how you would use this apron i.e. what would you use it for.
I wear one everyday to keep my reading glasses and phone handy. I also really need the apron when cooking or baking as I have a tendency to wipe my hands on my clothes and the apron saves me from having to do a wardrobe change.

Are you following my creative antics on Instagram or Facebook? If not, do so and your name will be entered once for the comment on this blog and once for following on Facebook and Instagram.

And if you don’t like to play contests but want a utility apron, you can always find more of the utility aprons in my little shop of Etsy.

I will announce the winner on Monday, August 3, 2015.

Hope you all have a fabulous day and thanks so much for stoppin’ by!

The Pencil Case ‘Test’ and a Give-A-Way

Written by , Posted in Back To School, Give-A-Way

The end of remaining in pj’s until 11:00 am is nearing. This time next week, we will be in full swing of the typical school day and extra-curricular activities for many, many long months. This time of the year also means preparing the kidlets for school both mentally and in terms of school supplies. Last year was the first year my daughter required a 3 ring binder pencil case. We purchased what appeared to be a well-made case and within a few months, we needed to replace it. We repeated this process at least three times last year so this year, I thought I would try to make a pencil case which will stand up to the ‘test’ of durability.
Pencil Case
I copied the size from an existing ‘dollar store’ pencil case…

The one from the dollar store was not lined but it did have some top stitching. I created the pencil cases using heavy weight interfacing on both the lining (yes, they are all lined!!) and the outer fabric. I also top-stitched seams and reinforced all stress areas. The goal is to see if this handmade pencil case will last the entire school year.

The fabric selection for this pencil case is from the collection Elementary by Moda Fabrics.
I also created a few floral versions…

…and I created one for a Give-A-Way!!! I realized it was high time for a give-a-way considering I can’t remember the last time I did!
This is the pencil case you could win!

To enter to win the pencil case, simply leave a comment telling me if you could go back to school, which program would you enrol in? Or if you are currently in school, which program are you enrolled in?
By random number generator, the winning comment will be selected bright and early on Wednesday, August 27.

Thanks for stoppin’ by and looking forward to reading your comments 🙂

‘Work In Progress’ Wednesday and a Give-A-Way! #wip

Yes, it is! It’s the beginning of a quilt. Not much to see right now but hoping it will all be put together in the next couple of days. I am thinking it is going to be a lap quilt but may be a bit larger. With this cold snap happening here in Ottawa, we need to keep warm 🙂
I finished the gifts for my son’s teachers early this year. A first for sure. Normally I am pulling an all-nighter the night before the last day of school but having visions of this quilt I wanted to get started gave me a greater push to get all the ‘have-to-do’s’ done quick.
Teachers Gifts
I embellished a ready-made muslin drawstring pouch with a bit of tulle and a bit of stamping and added fabulous My Mind’s Eye ‘Mistletoe Magic’ Decorative Tape as the gift. Hoping the teachers will know the multitude of uses for Washi Tape but if not, I will suggest they google suggestions.
I made one extra set for a Give-A-Way.
