Not that Miss Rylee needed yet another quilt, but after making so many pouches because I seemed to be on a pouch binge, I wanted to make something bigger. Miss Rylee loved the ‘Elizabeth’ Collection by Tula Pink and fortunately, I have over the course of about a year, accumulated most of the collection. It took me a while to figure out a pattern which would highlight the ‘selfie’ image. I settled on a wonky star pattern with centres measuring 3.5″ so that ‘Elizabeth’s selfie’ would be featured.
What I loved most about this quilt is the Robert Kaufman ‘Quilter’s Linen’ used for the background. I now want to use this fabric for all backgrounds in quilts 🙂 I chose the ‘Sky’ version and it blended beautifully with all the brights in the fabric collection.
For me, creating quilts is like reading a great book. Every step or stitch is like a page in a book in that each step or stitch brings you closer to the end. But like a good book, sometimes you don’t want it to end. That is how I felt making this quilt. I love the process. When it’s finished, yes the feeling is great but it’s also kind of sad that it’s over. And like any reader, the next step would be to pick up another book or in this case, begin another quilt 🙂 A quilt for Gabe is up next but hasn’t made it’s way to the long arm quilter yet.
This will be my first low volume quilt but enjoying it as much as I did, I know there will be more.
Hope you have a fabulous day and thanks for stoppin’ by!
