I’ve been good. I haven’t purchased any fabric in over a month. I have no idea where this achievement would rank on a Self Help Step Plan but I am still pretty darn proud of myself. I have to be honest though. My achievement is not based on any type of will or restraint or anything like that. I haven’t had time to browse the net or shop for new fabrics 🙂
As you can see from my current stash which stares at me everyday, I have enough. More than enough. The glass is not just full, it’s overflowing.
But having said that, a number of friends have asked me where I purchase my fabrics.
My first stop for fabric is always Quilty Pleasures.
The fabric selection is awesome but better yet, the staff are truly wonderful people. No pressure sales. No one pestering you or asking what you are looking for. But, if you do need help, there are always more than enough staff to assist. Most days, when I visit Quilty Pleasures, it’s just to chat with the awesome ladies who work there. Oh and they have a sewing machine repair service available so that makes shopping local even easier.
My next stop for fabric is a bit further away but the shipping is so quick its not worth the drive. Pam of Mad About Patchwork is so sweet and her selection, especially the staples like linens and linen blends, is fabulous. If I order today, my goodies arrive the next day. Far too convenient 🙂
Fabrications is another local and awesome fabric store as they carry unique fabrics and Japanese fabrics. The staff are friendly and helpful and best of all, they are open everyday of the week! Woot!
So those are the local shops.
Online, I have shopped at:
Fat Quarter Shop
Pink Chalk Fabrics
Pink Castle Fabrics
All of which have been great!
The ever so creative Shannon, of The Finished Garment, has compiled a fantastic list of Canadian fabric stores and pattern stores.
You can visit the links from Shannon’s site or from here:
The Big List of Online Canadian Fabric, Pattern and Notion Stores
The Big List of Independent Canadian Pattern Designers
Once I get through even a quarter of my fabric stash, I am sure Shannon’s list is going to be very handy. Maybe too handy.
Hope this info helps you build your fabric stash!
Thanks for stoppin’ by and have a fabulous day!
